Wholeness is the aim
Seed of origin
Blues and Greens is an idea born of a longtable meal shared by a gathering of fifteen friends — artists, doctors and writers — in Harlem, New York in January of 2016. The richness of conversation between the guests was perfectly paced with an incredible parade of vibrant courses served family style. The exchange of ideas, random musings and storytelling revealed treasured values shared across the table.
We promised to recreate the profound experience and playfully named it “Blues and Greens.” Singer and culinary artist Lizz Wright, whose birthday was being celebrated that evening, asked the other attendees whether she could design a platform to repeat and develop the experience. With their blessing, Blues and Greens is ...ALIVE!
Who is it for?
B&G engages and serves artists of all disciplines and all generations with a magnified focus on musicians, cooks and gardeners. We believe deeply in the interconnectedness and shared values of these crafts. We are building an experience that explores the natural connections and potential for collaboration between people committed to studying and advancing these subjects.
Our offerings
Our goal is to provide a dynamic network of information, ideas and development opportunities for local and global art communities. We pursue this mission through a vast menu of offerings like creative online workshops, artist testimonials, maps to culinary and horticultural resources, a curated list of events within the network and a membership program of personalized profiles.
How it works
We trace the touring routes of artists in our network and connect them with community farms, cooks, and supporters. We recommend a list of resources and experiences based on the needs and interest of our members.
Along with working artists, we take special care to invite youth to fellowship and provide a glimpse into the future of the arts and our relationship with nature.
